For Manufacturers & Technology Partners

We're building the market for agricultural robotics in South Africa

We're building the market intelligence and distribution infrastructure for agricultural robotics in Sub-Saharan Africa. We're looking for the right technology partners to do it with.

Our Approach

What AgriBots Is Building

A qualified farmer audience

Building a database of South African commercial farmers who have shared their farm profiles — crop types, provinces, sizes, challenges. Real demand data, not assumed.

SA-specific market research

Producing honest, locally-informed analysis of which ag-robotics technologies fit South African conditions — energy costs, connectivity, labour, crop types.

Product-market evaluation

Assessing every technology against SA realities: Does it work without cellular? Does the ROI stack up at ~R17.50/USD? Is there enough solar for the Free State?

Distribution infrastructure

Building the operational capability for hands-on market entry: logistics, on-farm demos, operator training, technical service. Not a box-shipping exercise.

Transparency

Where We Are in the Process

We are in the early stages. We have not signed distribution agreements. We have not imported products.

What we have done is: built this site, started producing SA-focused market analysis, begun capturing farm profiles, and initiated conversations with technology manufacturers.

We believe the right approach to this market is to build the audience and demonstrate the demand before asking manufacturers to commit. That is what we are doing.

Market Data

The South African Market Opportunity

~35,000
Commercial farms operating at scale across South Africa, spanning vineyards, orchards, row crops, sugarcane, and livestock operations.
100,000+ ha
Hectares under vine in the Western Cape — one of the largest vineyard regions in the Southern Hemisphere.
~18M tonnes
Sugarcane produced annually in KwaZulu-Natal. Labour-intensive harvesting creates strong demand for ground-based automation.
~14 million
Beef cattle across South Africa, with a significant commercial dairy sector concentrated in KZN, Eastern Cape, and Western Cape.
R25+/litre
Commercial diesel and rising. Geopolitical pressure on crude compounded by rand/dollar exposure makes fuel cost a growing concern for diesel-dependent operations.
2x in a decade
Grid electricity tariffs have roughly doubled in real terms over the past decade. Energy cost — not just availability — drives demand for off-grid farm equipment.
Patchy to none
Rural cellular coverage in many farming regions. Offline-capable and tower-based systems are essential infrastructure requirements, not optional features.
19% decline
In the agricultural labour force between 2021 and 2022 — approximately 250,000 jobs — accelerating demand for automation across all farming sectors.
~R17.50/USD
Live ZAR/USD exchange rate. All pricing must be presented with local financing context. Understanding ZAR economics is critical for market entry.

Partner Criteria

What We're Looking For in a Partner

Technologies with strong SA fit

Energy-cost efficient, offline-capable, and relevant to South African crop and livestock types. The technology needs to work in SA conditions — not just on paper.

Manufacturers willing to invest in proper market entry

Not just appoint an agent and wait. We are looking for partners who understand that building a new market requires commitment on both sides — demos, training, technical support, and patience.

Products that are commercially mature

Deployed at scale internationally, with proven reliability. South African farmers need technology that works — not beta products looking for a testing ground.
